Connect to an RD Gateway to access internal assets
A Remote Desktop Gateway (RD Gateway) lets you connect to a remote computer on a corporate network from anywhere on the Internet. You can create and manage your gateways in the preferences of the app or while setting up a new desktop connection.
To set up a new gateway in preferences:
- In the Connection Center, select Preferences > Gateways.
- Select the + button at the bottom of the table Enter the following information:
- Server name – The name of the computer you want to use as a gateway. This can be a Windows computer name, an Internet domain name, or an IP address. You can also add port information to the server name (for example: RDGateway:443 or 10.0.0.1:443).
- User name - The user name and password to be used for the Remote Desktop gateway you are connecting to. You can also select Use connection credentials to use the same user name and password as those used for the remote desktop connection.
Manage your user accounts
When you connect to a desktop or remote resources, you can save the user accounts to select from again. You can manage your user accounts by using the Remote Desktop client.
To create a new user account:
- In the Connection Center, select Settings > Accounts.
- Select Add User Account.
- Enter the following information:
- User Name - The name of the user to save for use with a remote connection. You can enter the user name in any of the following formats: user_name, domainuser_name, or [email protected].
- Password - The password for the user you specified. Every user account that you want to save to use for remote connections needs to have a password associated with it.
- Friendly Name - If you are using the same user account with different passwords, set a friendly name to distinguish those user accounts.
- Select Save, then select Settings.
Customize your display resolution
You can specify the display resolution for the remote desktop session.
- In the Connection Center, select Preferences.
- Select Resolution.
- Select +.
- Enter a resolution height and width, and then select OK.
To delete the resolution, select it, and then select -.
Displays have separate spaces
If you're running Mac OS X 10.9 and have disabled Displays have separate spaces in Mavericks (System Preferences > Mission Control), you need to configure this setting in the Remote Desktop client using the same option.
Drive redirection for remote resources
Drive redirection is supported for remote resources, so that you can save files created with a remote application locally to your Mac. The redirected folder is always your home directory displayed as a network drive in the remote session.
Note
In order to use this feature, the administrator needs to set the appropriate settings on the server.
Use a keyboard in a remote session
Mac keyboard layouts differ from the Windows keyboard layouts.
- The Command key on the Mac keyboard equals the Windows key.
- To perform actions that use the Command button on the Mac, you will need to use the control button in Windows (for example Copy = Ctrl+C).
- The function keys can be activated in the session by pressing additionally the FN key (for example, FN+F1).
- The Alt key to the right of the space bar on the Mac keyboard equals the Alt Gr/right Alt key in Windows.
By default, the remote session will use the same keyboard locale as the OS you're running the client on. (If your Mac is running an en-us OS, that will be used for the remote sessions as well.) If the OS keyboard locale is not used, check the keyboard setting on the remote PC and change it manually. See the Remote Desktop Client FAQ for more information about keyboards and locales.
Support for Remote Desktop gateway pluggable authentication and authorization
Windows Server 2012 R2 introduced support for a new authentication method, Remote Desktop Gateway pluggable authentication and authorization, which provides more flexibility for custom authentication routines. You can now try this authentication model with the Mac client.

Remember the days when talking alarm clocks and video phones on The Jetsons seemed far-fetched? Well, we don’t have flying cars – yet – but there’s no denying that in the last decade, personal electronic technology has accelerated at a high speed.
The original iPhone was released in June 2007 – just about a decade ago. With new iterations released regularly, the iPhone has evolved into the sophisticated device it is now. After the loss of Steve Jobs, Apple continued to innovate under the direction of Tim Cook. While the design and technology of the iPhone, iPad, and Mac underwent small changes with each new release, Cook’s biggest launch as Apple’s new CEO was the Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch
The Apple Watch, according to Business Insider (September 2017), recently beat out Rolex as the most popular watch on Earth. In 2016, Apple sold 11.9 million Apple Watches. As a wrist computer, health and fitness tracker, notification system, and remote control wrapped into one tiny package, Apple Watch is an incredibly smart and well-designed device.
Now in its third series, released in September 2017, the Apple Watch provides its wearers with a number of conveniences. Linked up to an iPhone via Bluetooth or WiFi, the Apple Watch has excellent features to encourage better health and fitness, such as GPS and built-in altimeter to measure your steps and how many stairs you take, streaming of music playlists to give you that extra boost of energy, and a Smart Coach who gives you a little nudge when you need it. It also offers an Activity Sharing feature, so that you can stay connected to and motivated by your friends.

In addition to the various notification systems (text, email) that the Apple Watch offers, it is focused strongly on your health and well-being. A heart rate measures your resting, exercising, and recovery rate, while the Breathe App promotes relaxation and meditation.
And, even more, the Apple Watch assists with hearing loss, the third most common health condition in the US.
Hearing Aids Compatible with Apple Watch
There are four main brands that offer iPhone compatible hearing aids: Starkey, ReSound, Oticon, and Widex. With their own downloadable apps for iOS, these hearing aids connect to your iPhone and now, to Apple Watch.
Starkey’s Halo iQ, ReSound’s LiNX 3D, Oticon’s Opn, and Widex’s BEYOND all have a few things in common: they allow you to connect wirelessly to your Apple devices and stream phone calls, FaceTime, music, and other audio directly to your hearing aids.
Through manufacturer apps for the Apple Watch, you can stream conversations, motivational chats from your fitness Smart Coach, or a playlist of your favorite music directly to your hearing aids. With the GPS feature on your Apple Watch, the hearing aid app will make automatic adjustments based on your archived preferences to provide seamless, natural listening. Even more, this wireless connection allows you to control and fine-tune your listening experience with a few simple taps: make adjustments to the volume, program features, channels, tinnitus therapy, etc.
Starkey Halo iQ
Halo iQ, powered by the Synergy Platform, is the third generation of Starkey’s award-winning Made for iPhone hearing aid. With the TruLink app, Halo iQ connects to your Apple Watch. Its user-friendly app design makes it simple for you to personalize your listening experience or stream sounds to your ears. SoundSpace and Noise Manager are two features in the TruLink app that allow you to make the adjustments necessary for the best sound quality.
Halo iQ is an incredibly sophisticated hearing aid that provides a robust and natural listening experience. With features such as Acuity Directionality and Speech Shift, Halo iQ wearers experience improved speech intelligibility, especially in difficult listening experiences or between different environments. Feedback cancellation eliminates any discomfort from buzzing and whistling. People with tinnitus will appreciate Starkey’s Advanced Multiflex Tinnitus Technology, which may also be controlled with the TruLink app.
Halo iQ is available in two styles: receiver-in-canal and behind-the-ear. With Surface NanoShield, Halo iQ is coated in a protective material to resist moisture and dirt.

If there are issues with your hearing aid, answer a series of questions provided by your hearing specialist or audiologist, and they’ll send you updates to upload to your LiNX 3D aids. With this update, LiNX 3D provides you with the optimal listening experience personalized for your specific hearing needs.
LiNX 3D is available in the following styles: receiver-in-canal, behind-the-ear, and custom styles (invisible-in-canal, completely-in-canal, mic-in-helix, in-the-canal, and in-the-ear).
Oticon Opn
Powered by Velox, an “open sound solution” platform, Opn literally opens up the soundscape to the wearer, while supporting the brain in the auditory process. Opn wearers experience the richness of different sound environments and are empowered to choose where they want to focus.
With TwinLink technology, Opn connects to your Apple Watch through the ON app. In addition to providing discreet remote control of your hearing aids, the ON app connects Opn hearing aids directly to the Internet, providing you access to an archive of daily sounds. With your Apple Watch you can check battery life on your Opn aids, and in the event you happen to misplace your Opn aids, you can track them down with the “find my hearing aids” feature.
Opn is available in the following styles: mini receiver-in-the-ear (RITE), miniRITE with telecoil, and the BTE13 Plus Power behind-the-ear hearing aid for severe to profound hearing loss. App to open msi files on mac.

Compatible with Apple Watch watchOS 2, the BEYOND app automatically checks for the latest software updates from Widex, ensuring the most up-to-date programs. With the app, BEYOND wearers may also personalize their listening experience, creating sound templates for specific listening situations.
